Week in Review - 18/2017

What did I see?
Today I saw some moving pictures which I eally liked. Stephanie Bayles animated creepy cute foods and snow globes:

What did I listen to?
Korn - A different World

What did I ask myself?
How is it almost May? Wasn't it Christmas just yesterday?!

What did I read?
"Soulless" by Gail Carriger, the first novel of the Parasol Protectorate. They have been recommended by the Lady of Manners and when the books were in the Free Bookshelve, I took them with me. Really a funny read, about a steampunk version of the Victorian Age with vampires and werewolves. Alexia Tarabotti, the main character, is a soul sucker and can force the supernaturals to become mortal again. I liked the book quite well although the love story is a tinkle too much for me...

What did I work on?
Nothing

I was happy about...
The kittens and my love

I was annoyed about...
Work. So much stupid tasks with unneccessary pressure. *sigh*

I bought...
A cat toy called "cat charmer" which now is Ana's favourite toy. She begs for playing now and we are tired of playing before her... ^^

Plantain Shirt by Deer and Doe

After making the Selja shirt I showed last week, I still had some fabric left which I didn't want to waste. Plus it was kind of too niche for undies, right? So I checked which patterns might still work with the leftovers and found that they'd make a decent Plantain Shirt by Deer and Doe. At least with some additional black jersey for the back and shortened sleeves!

As I said the back is pieced with another black jersey which was in my stash. I'm still going strong the the fabric diet and have not caved yet!

The hems were done with a decorative wavy stitch, although I nw have my sewing machine set up with the twin needle. My mum came over to see the kitties and sew, we made her a pretty new dress!

Week in Review - 17/2017

What did I see?
Who would have thought that dry pigment blown on models would look so amazingly beautiful? Veronica Azaryan did exactly that and the results blow me away - pun totaly intended!

What did I listen to?
Aurelio Voltaire - Land of the Dead

What did I ask myself?
Why am I so lazy again? And what to do against it?

What did I read?
Some stuff about food and sports

What did I work on?
Another shirt and a dress.

I was happy about...
Playing with the flufflebutts! ^^

I was annoyed about...
Being playbitten by Lena. We are working on recognising human skin as a non-food!

I bought...
Nothing

Selja top by Named patterns

Oh hi there, anyone still reading my blog? We have cats now for a month and it seems that it takes some getting used to them. I love them dearly, but they demand playtime and nose kisses and belly scratches a lot, so my time for blogging was even lower than for sewing... Anyway, I'm back - a little slower but still...

Hallooooho?

Before the little kitty tornado hit home I finally caved and ordered some sewing patterns from Named patterns in Finland. I've seen so many pretty clothes made from Named patterns, so I bought Selja, a knotted shirt. And when a colleague from work handed my very generous fabric leftovers, I went to work:

I tried my best to get pattern matching done on this very busy print with limited fabric. I think I did pretty well!

It wears very comfortably and was already worn to work - my co-worker was delighted! She made a pretty dress from it and now we can go matchy-matchy! ^^

Sewing pattern review
The pattern fits true to size (I made a 16 according to my measurements and it fits comfortably) and was rather easy to sew. As per usual I ignored the instructions, but still it was easy going.

Week in Review - 16/2017

What did I see?
I hve a thing for bones. I think they are rather beautiful in their simplicity. All persons contain the same amount of bones, no matter what skin colour, what gender. It is nice to know that underneath all our differences, we are essentially the same. Now, if you are interested in trying to eat bones, I can't recommend that. You might make bone broth or you could invest in chocolate bones by Conjurer's Kitchen:

What did I listen to?
X-RX - Hard bass, hard sounds

What did I ask myself?
Is this real? How can cats be so cute and so evil at the same time?

What did I read?
Literature about cats. I like to be prepared. For every possible emergency, it seems! ^^

What did I work on?
A shirt

I was happy about...

Our new flat mates with fluffy buttoms which moved in about a month ago. The names are Ana (on the left) and Lena (on the right) and no, I didn't choose the names myself. They had them when we adopted and they listen to them quite well - so no way we will change that!

I was annoyed about...
Having less time due to lots of work and two cats which change up my routines - for the better!

I bought...
Oh don't ask. I think I spent a fortune on scratch posts, cat food and play things -.-#
